Guide
Connect MetaTrader 5 to limit.trade
Connect once and limit.trade keeps your balance and open positions up to date from MT5. Follow the 5 steps below, about 3 minutes.
What you need
- A limit.trade account (sign in to get your connection code)
- MetaTrader 5 on a Windows PC, Mac or VPS, logged in to your trading account (any broker)
- The MT5 mobile app can't run EAs: use a computer or a VPS
The LimitTradeBridge EA only READS your balance and open positions and sends them to limit.trade. It never places, modifies or closes trades, and it doesn't need your MT5 password.
-
1Download the EA
Click the button below to download LimitTradeBridge.ex5. It is saved to your Downloads folder.
-
2Open the EA with MT5
Open your Downloads folder and double-click LimitTradeBridge.ex5. MT5 installs the EA, opens the Navigator and shows LimitTradeBridge under Expert Advisors.
DownloadsLimitTradeBridge.ex5Double-click
If double-clicking doesn't open MT5: in MT5 choose File > Open Data Folder, go to MQL5 > Experts and copy LimitTradeBridge.ex5 there. Then in the Navigator (Ctrl+N), right-click Expert Advisors > Refresh.
-
3Allow MT5 to connect to limit.trade
Open the settings using the path below, then copy this address:
ToolsOptionsExpert Advisors
https://limit.tradeIn the Expert Advisors tab: tick "Allow WebRequest for listed URL", click the empty row underneath, paste the address you copied (Ctrl+V) and click OK.
You only do this once. It is an MT5 security setting: EAs can only send data to addresses you allow.
-
4Attach the EA and paste your code
In the Navigator, drag LimitTradeBridge onto any chart (e.g. EURUSD). The EA settings dialog opens, then:
- Open the Inputs tab (next to Common).
- On the first row "👉 Mã kết nối limit.trade / Connection code", double-click the empty cell on the right (Value column).
- Paste your connection code (Ctrl+V) and press Enter.
- Click OK.
MT5 Inputs tab: paste your code into the highlighted cell. Get your connection code at limit.trade > Settings > Connections > MetaTrader 5 > Connect.
Each MT5 account uses its own code; attach the EA to just one chart. If the first row in your table is "Địa chỉ nhận dữ liệu" (older EA), paste the code into the second row "Mã kết nối (lt5_...)".
-
5Check the connection
The top-left corner of the chart shows "limit.trade · ✓ Connected". limit.trade updates your balance and positions every 30 seconds while MT5 is open.
If MT5 or your computer is off, updates pause. To stay connected 24/7, run MT5 on a VPS (many brokers such as Exness offer a free VPS).
Frequently asked questions
The chart says "MT5 hasn't allowed the connection to limit.trade"
Repeat step 3: Tools > Options > Expert Advisors, tick "Allow WebRequest for listed URL" and add exactly https://limit.trade (no trailing slash). Click OK, then attach the EA to the chart again.
The chart says "Connection code is wrong or was changed"
The code was pasted incompletely, or you clicked "New code" on limit.trade. Go to Settings > Connections and click "New code". In MT5, press F7 on the chart, open Inputs, double-click the Value cell of "👉 Connection code" and paste it again.
I can't find LimitTradeBridge in the Navigator
Double-click LimitTradeBridge.ex5 in your Downloads folder again while MT5 is open. If it still doesn't show: in MT5 choose File > Open Data Folder, go to MQL5 > Experts, copy the file there, then right-click Expert Advisors > Refresh in the Navigator. If Windows blocked the download, right-click the file > Properties > Unblock.
The chart doesn't show any limit.trade line
The EA isn't running. Press F7 on the chart to reopen the EA settings and check, in Inputs, that "👉 Connection code" has your code. If the EA icon in the top-right corner is grey, turn on Algo Trading in the toolbar.
Does the EA place trades or touch my money?
No. It only reads your balance and open positions and sends them to limit.trade. It contains no code to place, modify or close trades, and doesn't need your MT5 password.
What if I turn off my computer?
Updates pause and limit.trade shows "Disconnected". Reopen MT5 and the EA reconnects automatically. To stay online, use a VPS: many brokers (e.g. Exness) offer one for free if you qualify.
Can I connect several MT5 accounts?
Yes, up to 5. Create a separate connection on limit.trade for each account, each with its own code.
